Bridekirk Dovenby School - Mural Project June 2023
Bridekirk Dovenby School approached me to work with them and produce 5 murals (1 per class) to be displayed externally alongside the opening of their new sensory garden. Working with the 130 children & teachers, we decided that the biodiversity of Cumbria would be our inspiration. I discussed with the children what parts of Cumbria they would like to see, and the Cumbrian nature within it. Using spray paint, stencils and acrylic, and led by the children, we produced 5 fantastic murals. The one featured here is the Cumbrian coast, and includes a Curlew, Oyster Catchers, a Hermit Crab and a starfish.

In July 2020 I was asked the question 'would you like to paint a wall?'
The question was put to me by Ben at Blank Wall Assassins. Ben and I have worked together on various projects, and being a street art fan myself, he knew it was an ambition of mine to see if my work could transfer to the street.
Ben has made strong links with a truly worldwide selection of some of the best in the business. He is also responsible for the first real public street art in Carlisle, so obviously I said yes before I knew where the wall was, or how big!

The wall is on Devonshire St in Carlisle and beautifully framed by an archway.
The idea behind commissioning me was to show a different side to Street Art. It isn't often you turn a corner and find a more traditional landscape painting, in this case I chose Aira Force. I think people love finding art in unusual and unexpected places, and the local response has been great. See more of the media coverage at the links below.

River Eden Mural - Carlisle Youth Zone 26/3/2021
Carlisle Youth Zone aims to provide a safe meeting place for young people in the area, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Due to the Covid - 19 epidemic much of the inside had to be made covid safe; this means everything was sanitised and put in boxes. To make the Youth Zone a bright and inspiring place, they put out a call for artists to paint the walls. The response was brilliant, and artists aged 12 - 60+ have added work to the walls. My contribution is 'River Eden (Winter Afternoon)' and it is on the wall in the arts & crafts area. I hope it will help inspire young people to have a go and pick up a paint brush.
